New Director Appointed for Grant and Contract Accounting

Angelo Chrisomalis, formerly of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and University at Albany, SUNY, became director of Rutgers’ Office of Grant and Contract Accounting on March 21. 

His duties include responsibility for the operations of the Grants and Contracts Accounting office, oversight of the financial administration of grants and contracts received by Rutgers, and management of external audits associated with research.

Terri Goss Kinzy, vice president for research, said Chrisomalis was chosen after a national search. “From early on, it was clear that his experience and education were ideal for this key role, but was distinguishes Angelo are his ability to communicate and his energy,” Kinzy said. “We look forward to him working with our team to advance new initiatives in OGCA and in partnership with ORSP and Finance.”

Chrisomalis was director of research administration and finance (post award) at Rensselaer Polytechnic until coming to join Rutgers. Previously he held administrative positions of increasing responsibility at Rensselaer, and at the University at Albany, SUNY.

A Certified Research Administrator, Chrisomalis has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from SUNY-New Paltz and an MBA and a master’s in financial management from the University of Maryland. Chrisomalis is also an active member of the Federal Demonstration Project, cooperative initiative among 10 federal agencies and 155 institutional recipients of federal funds.
